In Greek mythology, Prometheus was a Titan who, against the will of the Olympian gods, brought fire to humanity and showed them how to make it themselves. Prometheus believed that humans shouldn’t have to rely on the gods for everything – that the knowledge he provided would give them control and agency, and vastly improve their quality of life.
